Director retiring at Saskatchewan’s Holy Trinity Board, New Director announced

celeste-yorkCeleste York has been appointed as the new Director of Education for the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division effective July 1.

York has been chosen to replace current Director of Education Del Wagner, who will be retiring in June 2009. Wagner, has been Holy Trinity’s director for the past five years.  By the end of June, he will have alyssa-del-htcsd225pxcompleted 30 years in education, having been a classroom teacher, principal, and superintendent of student services. During that time he worked for both Public and Catholic Boards in such Saskatchewan communities as Eatonia, Swift Current and Moose Jaw.

Wagner believes his greatest accomplishments as Director are: assisting the Board in moving to a governance approach that is policy and vision oriented and helping shape the new Division of Holy Trinity which amalgamated in 2004 bringing together the Catholic educational communities of Moose Jaw, Swift Current and Shauanvon.

“I have tried to provide a distinctly Catholic context in teaching and leading through my publishing and my work with, students, staff and Board,” said Del Wagner.

Celeste York has over three decades of service with the Regina Catholic School Division. Over her career she has served as a classroom teacher, principal and central office supervisor in French Immersion, community schools, and international education programs. As the Supervisor of Policy and Development/Continuous School Improvement with Regina Catholic Schools, York has worked closely with the Ministry of Education, Kids First, Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region, Regina Public Schools, and a variety of employee and parent groups on provincial education initiatives.

In commenting on her appointment, York said, “I am really looking forward to joining the community of Holy Trinity School Division. My goal is to continue to build upon this solid foundation and work with the schools and Catholic Community to further the cause of Catholic Education. “

Holy Trinity Catholic School Division serves more than 2,000 students in 10 schools.
