The Toronto Catholic District School’s Hanna Cabaj, Coordinator of Continuing Education (Adult Education) was recently awarded the TESL (Teachers of English as a Second Language) Canada Honourary Life Membership Award.
Ms. Cabaj was chosen in recognition for her outstanding service in the field of ESL, which has benefited from Hanna’s in depth understanding of the issues critical to English as a Second Language teaching and learning. Her expert opinion has been frequently solicited by funders, professional associations and colleagues. For the past 10 years, Hanna has been serving on a number of federal and provincial advisory groups where she has capably advised funders and other stakeholders concerning matters that are central to language training and other upgrading programs for adults in ESL, LINC, and LBS programs in Ontario.
“We congratulate Hanna on this latest accomplishment,” says Director of Education Ann Perron. “We are fully aware of the fine work that she, and our entire Adult Education team do to support the continuing education and the development of second language skills for adult learners, many of whom are parents and family members of the students in our school system.”
