NEW FACES OF CANADIAN CATHOLICS
The Asians
By Terence Fay, SJ
A revealing look at the changing face of the Catholic Church.
A unique and compelling narrative of the arrival, settlement, and integration of Asian Catholics into Canadian life, New Faces of Canadian Catholics illuminates the untold stories of five of the largest groups of Canadian Catholics from China, the Philipines, Korea, Sri- Lanka and Vietnam.
Powerfully told and beautifully written, the book provides insight into the challenges new Canadians face as they attempt to put down roots in the Catholic Church and establish their communities. Highly readable and relevant, New Faces of Canadian Catholics is a vital book for understanding the cultural richness and diversity within Canadian religious history.
About the Author: Terence J. Fay is a Jesuit priest and the author of A History of Canadian Catholics: Gallicanism, Romanism, and Canadianism (McGill-Queen’s University Press). He is a faculty member of the Toronto School of Theology of University of Toronto, former president of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association, and a current member of the Executive Council of the American Catholic Historical Association.
