CDSB Eastern Ontario: Veteran Trustees Eamer and Kirby Acclaimed to Leadership Roles

CDSB-of-Eastern-Ontario0912Trustee from Cornwall Glengarry, Mr. Ronald Eamer, was acclaimed as the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario’s Chairperson for a ninth straight term at the Board’s Inaugural Meeting held December 1, 2009. “I am truly honoured and blessed to have the support of my fellow Trustees,” said Mr. Eamer in accepting the position.

Mr. Eamer, who is entering his 29th year as a Catholic School Trustee, said, “Our Trustees all share a passion for Catholic education. As a group of Trustees, we make every effort to share that passion with the Ministry and our other partners in education. It is an honour to represent this Board, and my colleagues, for another term.”

Also at the Inaugural Meeting, Trustees acclaimed Lanark County Trustee, Mrs. Nancy Kirby, to the position of CDSBEO Vice-Chair. Like Mr. Eamer, this will be Mrs. Kirby’s ninth term in the role.

In addition to her role with the CDSBEO, Mrs. Kirby continues to serve as Vice-President of the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association. “I am honoured to have the support of my fellow Trustees. I am fortunate to be able to share our Board’s successes with Trustees from across the province.”

Director of Education, Wm. J. Gartland, stated, “Our Trustees are a key in providing the very best Catholic education for our students. I look forward to working with Mr. Eamer, Mrs. Kirby and all the Trustees in the year to come.”

The Inaugural Meeting began by the celebration of Mass. The Board was blessed to have The Most Rev. Terrence Prendergast, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Ottawa in the role of celebrant.
